Where did this program begin?

This program was the concept of CSUSB Alumna Amanda Fernandez('16) and Alumna Aimee Alvarez('18). Fernandez is the current Film Music Licensing Coordinator for NBC Universal (Universal Pictures and affiliates, including Focus Features, Blumhouse, Dreamworks, and Illumination). Since graduating, she has worked as an A&R Administrator for Warner Records, worked in Publishing at Disney Music Group, and employed to assist in Sync Licensing for Disney Music Group.

Alumna Aimee Alvarez (2011) is a recording engineer, a professional photographer, and a former Communication Specialist for the College of Arts & Letters/Coyote Radio & Advertising.   She oversees student learning technology at Coyote Radio at CSUSB where her work is focused on assisting student and faculty broadcasts and technology innovation at the CSUSB campus media lab.

These two alumna began building the program in 2022 when Amanda determined that so many of her employers were looking for unsuccessfully for interns at the university level. It was then that she realized she could create a pipeline to CSUSB. With the assistance of the Communication Studies Department of CSUSB, an advisory board was formed and the program was launched in 2023.

Tony Best – Internship at San Bernardino Valley College

Thanks to Coyotes to Hollywood & Beyond, CSUSB student Tony Best was afforded the opportunity to utilize his skills as a global marketing expert in movies and video and begin employment as an media marketing instructor at the college and also to serve as a judge at Wolverine-Fest; a regional film festival and competition.

My first semester in the Coyotes to Hollywood program was a rewarding and unique experience. I've worked in L.A.'s entertainment industry for over three decades and am returning to San Bernardino (my birthplace) to explore the IE's media & communication arts industry. Not only does the C2H program create avenues for my professional growth, but it also provides access to the IE's vast media production resources. A big shout-out to Lacey Kendall, Lucas Cuny, and Kevin Lyons for the opportunity!

Denisse Magana Live on KCAA.jpg

Denisse Magana - Internship at NBC News Radio/KCAA AM & FM, KQLH, KZSX

Denisse was able to take her writing skills into a new direction: writing news copy, preparing newscasts, and broadcasting as a news reporter for Californias’ flagship NBC News Radio outlet! She was also invited to participate as a commentator on a live broadcast during election night on the NBC affiliate!

When starting my journey with Coyotes to Hollywood I never imagined where it would lead me. This internship obtained by the organization was nothing but exciting. From learning to write in a completely different way than I did before. As well as learning how to record and produce audio to be broadcasted around the Inland Empire. In addition to perfecting people skills that can only be learned with hands-on experience, and let's not forget being able to advocate for myself and finding my voice with kind and like minded individuals. My experience with this organization and its amazing staff has been nothing short of eye opening. They have never made me feel alone in my dreams and have helped me step by step to work towards a future that looks nothing short of bright.
